Carolan's Dream arranged and played on a Celtic harp by Mark Harmer Turlough Carolan (1670 - March 25, 1738) was a blind, itinerant early Irish harper, composer and singer whose great fame is due to his gift for melodic composition. He was the last great Irish harp-composer and is considered by many to be Ireland's national composer. The Celtic harp is small to medium-sized and usually designed for traditional music; it can be played solo or with small groups. It is prominent in Welsh, Brittany, Irish, Scottish and other Celtic cultures within traditional or folk music and as a social and political symbol. |
